FAQ

What should I do before I get my tattoo?

Make sure you eat and drink to ensure your blood sugar levels are ok. You can bring a high sugar drink/chocolate with you. Please wear suitable clothing, which allows access to the area that is to be tattooed.

How old do I have to be?

It is illegal to be tattooed under the age of 18.

Can I get a tattoo whilst pregnant?

No, nor whilst breastfeeding.

Is it safe?

A tattoo is a wound, it is important to follow the advice from your tattooist. New needles are always used and equipment is always sterilized. Make sure you only get your ink at a registered studio, and listen to your
tattooist’s advice!

Is it OK to get tattooed whilst I’m sick?

It is best to avoid getting tattooed whilst sick. Your immune system is already fighting the infection in your body, so it will struggle to heal the tattoo. Chances of infection are far higher.

What should I get and where?

Make sure you take time and care picking your design. Always get it where you want it, although advice from your artist/friends/family is good. The design doesn’t always need to mean something, as long as you love the artwork, just make sure you’re 100% happy.

How much will it cost?

When it comes to tattoo’s, look for quality before you look at the price tag. ‘A cheap tattoo isn’t good, and a good tattoo isn’t cheap.’ A tattoo is a piece of art that you will wear for life. If you can’t afford it right now, save rather than substituting the design, or perhaps only get the outline to begin with.

Does it hurt?

Yes, it does hurt, but most people find getting tattooed a bearable pain. You’ll be surprised how quickly the body releases endorphins, which dull the pain significantly.
